Use
GATA3 immunohistochemical staining is used for diagnostic purposes, serving as a sensitive marker for certain carcinomas (notably breast and urothelial carcinoma) to aid in tumor typing via morphological analysis using a stain-and-return technical service.
Special Instructions
This test is performed as a stain-and-return (technical) service only; it is categorized as a Laboratory Developed Test (LDT). Ordering recommendations reference the ARUP Immunohistochemistry Stain Offerings brochure. New York State Department of Health approval is affirmed.
Limitations
Specimens must consist of representative tissue; non‑representative or depleted specimens are unacceptable. Precise fixation is required (formalin fixation, paraffin-embedded); specimens prepared in other ways are unacceptable. Transportation guidelines must be followed to avoid excessive heat. Frozen specimens are unacceptable.
