Glutamine Synthetase Immunostain, Technical Component Only
Use
This test is useful for the classification of hepatic adenomas and the identification of focal nodular hyperplasia. Glutamine synthetase (GS) is an enzyme that catalyzes the adenosine triphosphate-dependent condensation of glutamate with ammonia to form glutamine. It is expressed in hepatic adenomas with beta-catenin alterations and in zone 3 of normal liver, with a characteristic map-like pattern in focal nodular hyperplasia.

Not provided.
Limitations
Age of a cut paraffin section can affect immunoreactivity, with stability thresholds varying widely. Environmental factors can affect the charge of glass slides, potentially altering slide staining. Unsuitable glass slides may reduce staining consistency.
