Use
The Growth Hormone, 0 Minutes test is used to evaluate growth hormone deficiency (GHD) or excess in patients. In pediatric patients, very low peak growth hormone concentrations on stimulation tests suggest severe GHD, although thresholds for partial GHD aren't well defined. In adults, expected GH peaks depend on the stimulation test used, following Endocrine Society guidelines. For suppression tests, healthy subjects typically have GH concentrations below 1 ng/mL within 2 hours post-glucose ingestion, while patients with acromegaly may not display normal suppression.

Limitations
Thresholds distinguishing normal from partial GHD have not been well established, requiring inadequate responses to two different provocative tests for GHD diagnosis. This test may not distinguish between different systemic or localized endocrine issues nor between causes of abnormal growth hormone levels without additional context.
