Use
This test is utilized to identify allelic polymorphisms of HLA-DRB1, DQA1, and DQB1 loci in specimens from transplant candidates and their donors. It is not intended for diagnosing or screening for HLA-related diseases such as celiac disease, narcolepsy, or rheumatologic diseases. The test provides results with HLA locus denotation followed by a two-field four-digit assigned allele, aiding in the compatibility assessment in transplant scenarios.
Special Instructions
The test should not be regarded as investigational or for research purposes and is certified under the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments of 1988 (CLIA-88) for high complexity clinical laboratory testing. Specimens from New York clients will be processed at a New York state-approved laboratory.
Limitations
The assay has a sensitivity and specificity of over 99% for detecting allelic polymorphisms. However, diagnostic errors may occur due to primer site mutations or unknown DNA polymorphisms outside of analyzed regions. The NMDP code indicates possible rare alleles that cannot be excluded, and additional uncharacterized DNA polymorphisms outside analyzed regions could exist.
