Use
The Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (Beta-hCG) by Immunohistochemistry test is used to identify the presence of hCG beta subunit in formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue specimens. hCG is a valuable marker in diagnosing germ cell tumors, trophoblastic disease, and some types of cancers due to its production by these tumors.

Limitations
This test is performed purely as a stain and return (technical) service, and does not include interpretative analysis. Stability is indefinite at ambient or refrigerated temperatures, but it is not acceptable for frozen samples. Unacceptable specimen conditions include non-representative tissue types and depleted specimens.
