Insulin, Intact, LC/MS/MS
Use
The Insulin, Intact, LC/MS/MS assay measures only the intact insulin molecule, avoiding cross‑reactivity with insulin fragments, and is primarily used to evaluate the cause of hypoglycemia. It is particularly useful in assessing hyperinsulinemia and insulin resistance, offering greater specificity than standard immunoassays.
Special Instructions
Not provided.
Limitations
Analytical sensitivity is 3 µIU/mL. The assay has no cross-reactivity with proinsulin or insulin analogs aspart and degludec; however, insulin analogs lispro and glargine may interfere with quantitation. Presence of insulin antibodies may alter results.
