Use
The Intrinsic Pathway Coagulation Factor Profile (Esoterix) is designed to evaluate the activity levels of factors within the intrinsic pathway of coagulation. This test is vital for diagnosing and monitoring bleeding disorders such as hemophilia. By assessing the activity of Factor VIII, IX, XI, and XII, clinicians can gain insights into potential deficiencies or dysfunctions that might affect coagulation and lead to clinical manifestations of bleeding disorders. Special Instructions
It is important to collect the plasma sample in a blue-top tube containing sodium citrate as an anticoagulant. Plasma must be separated from cells within 45 minutes of collection to ensure sample integrity. For multiple tests requiring frozen samples, separate specimens should be submitted to avoid processing delays.
Limitations
This test specifically measures the activity levels of factors within the intrinsic coagulation pathway and does not assess the extrinsic or common coagulation pathways.
