Use
Itraconazole Susceptibility Testing is utilized to determine the susceptibility of various fungi to itraconazole. The results guide the choice of appropriate antifungal therapy by identifying if a specific organism is susceptible, intermediate, or resistant to itraconazole, thereby aiding in effective management of fungal infections.
Special Instructions
The specimen used for testing must be in pure culture and actively growing. Proper labeling as an etiologic agent/infectious substance is required when shipping the specimen, along with the Fungus Testing Lab request form.
Limitations
Only actively growing fungi in pure culture are suitable for this test. Specimens that are not pure cultures or not actively growing will be rejected. The test results should be interpreted in the context of clinical presentation and other laboratory findings. Unlisted microbiological procedures or variations due to uncommon organisms may require additional interpretation.
