Use
The test is used to quantify kappa and lambda light chains in paraffin tissue. These light chains are part of the immunoglobulin molecules, and their measurement can help in the assessment of monoclonal gammopathies and other related disorders. By evaluating the kappa/lambda ratios, clinicians can distinguish between polyclonal and monoclonal proliferation, which is useful in diagnosing and monitoring conditions such as multiple myeloma and other lymphoproliferative disorders.

Limitations
The test does not include interpretation of the kappa/lambda light chains quantification results. It's vital to pair results with clinical findings and other diagnostic tests for comprehensive evaluation. The test is not FDA approved but is performed in a CLIA-certified laboratory. Specimens that are non-representative or depleted are unacceptable for analysis. Frozen specimens are also unacceptable, as stability is only guaranteed under ambient or refrigerated conditions.

Collection Instructions
Formalin fix (10 percent neutral buffered formalin) and paraffin-embed specimen. Protect paraffin block and/or slides from excessive heat. Transport tissue block or 8 unstained (3- to 5-micron thick sections), positively-charged slides.
Storage Instructions
Room temperature. Also acceptable: Refrigerated. Ship in cooled container during summer months.
