Lead, Blood, Filter Paper
Use
Evaluate exposure to lead
Special Instructions
This assay is not available in New York state or California. Ensure that two free-falling blood drops are placed on the filter paper collector; avoid contact between the paper and the skin when collecting the specimen. Maintain the specimen at room temperature, where it remains stable for up to six months.
Limitations
The test was developed and its performance characteristics were determined by Labcorp. It has not undergone clearance or approval by the Food and Drug Administration. Elevated blood lead levels identified by capillary collection should be confirmed with venous collection as suggested by the CDC and health departments to ensure accuracy and reliability, given the potential for contamination or external lead sources affecting capillary blood tests.
