Leptin, Serum or Plasma
Use
Measurement of leptin levels in serum or plasma
Special Instructions
Not provided.
Limitations
This test was developed and its performance characteristics were determined by Labcorp and have not been cleared or approved by the Food and Drug Administration. Leptin deficiency is a rare cause of obesity and mutations in the leptin gene or leptin receptor gene are uncommon. In obesity, higher levels of leptin are noted, which often result in leptin resistance rather than deficiency.
