MayoComplete Colorectal Cancer Panel, Next-Generation Sequencing, Tumor
Use
The MayoComplete Colorectal Cancer Panel is primarily used for determining patient response to various targeted therapies or immunotherapy and predicting prognosis from microsatellite instability status. This panel evaluates somatic mutations within genes such as APC, BRAF, HRAS, KRAS, MLH1, MSH2, MSH6, NRAS, PIK3CA, PIK3R1, PMS2, POLE, and PTEN to identify candidates for targeted therapy in colorectal cancer patients. Understanding the genetic alterations in these tumors can guide treatment decisions and potentially improve outcomes.
Special Instructions
A pathology report must accompany the specimen for testing to be performed. This report should contain the patient name, block number, tissue collection date, and source of the tissue. Slide reviews will always be performed at an additional charge when this test is ordered.
Limitations
This test does not evaluate for germline alterations within the listed genes. It cannot differentiate between somatic mutations and germline alterations; additional testing may be necessary for hereditary risk assessment. False results may occur if the minimum tumor nuclei requirements are not met or if improper specimen handling occurs. The test is not reliable for detecting multi-exon deletions, larger-scale genomic copy number variants, or epigenetic modifications.
