Use
The Methadone and Metabolite, Urine, Quantitative test is used to obtain quantitative results or to follow up a presumptive result for methadone. It is not intended for general screening; for such purposes, Methadone Urine Screen with Reflex to Quantitation is recommended. The test provides quantitative analysis of methadone and its primary metabolite, EDDP, to assess compliance with prescribed methadone therapy, evaluate potential drug misuse, and monitor therapeutic drug levels.
Special Instructions
The test is conducted using random urine collected in a standard ARUP transport tube. It is important to avoid specimens with repeated freeze/thaw cycles as this can affect the test results. The test runs from Sunday to Saturday and has a reporting timeframe of 1 to 7 days.
Limitations
This test is for medical purposes only and is not valid for forensic use. The limitations include issues such as non-compliance, inappropriate timing of specimen collection relative to drug administration, poor drug absorption, and diluted or adulterated urine, which may result in the absence of expected drugs and metabolites. The concentration value must meet or exceed the cutoff of 100 ng/mL to be reported as positive. Testing limitations include inherent methodological and interpretative constraints; consult the laboratory for any specific interpretative questions.
