Special Instructions
This profile is tailored for use in pain management contexts and is not suited for workplace drug testing as it does not meet state regulatory requirements for workplace testing programs. The test undergoes an initial immunoassay screening followed by mass spectrometry confirmation for positives.
Limitations
Test results should be interpreted in context with clinical information as variables such as patient metabolic rate and drug chemistry can affect the outcomes. It is important to understand that the presence of certain drugs may be attributed to both prescription medications and illicit substances. Confirmation of positive results by mass spectrometry adds reliability, but no test can completely eliminate the possibility of false-negative or false-positive results due to cross-reactivity with non-target compounds or specimen characteristics.
