Motor Neuropathy Panel
Also known as: MSN PAN
Use
The Motor Neuropathy Panel aids in the diagnosis of motor neuropathy, especially in cases where plasma cell dyscrasia is suspected. It includes the measurement of various globulins, immunoglobulins, and antibodies that are pertinent in understanding neuropathic conditions. Elevated levels of certain antibodies might suggest active demyelination and peripheral neuropathies. This test is valuable in differentiating between various neuropathic conditions.
Special Instructions
Not provided.
Limitations
Plasma, CSF, or body fluids other than serum are unacceptable. Room temperature, contaminated, heat-inactivated, hemolyzed, severely icteric, or lipemic specimens are also unacceptable. The antibody tests are not diagnostic on their own and should be used in conjunction with clinical data to confirm disease. Interpretive caution is advised due to possible reactivity against more than one epitope or protein.
