Muscle Specific Actin
Use
Muscle-specific actin (MSA) recognizes actin expressed in all cells with muscle differentiation, including cardiac, smooth and skeletal muscle, as well as myoepithelial cells, myofibroblasts, pericytes, and myogenic tumors. It is used to evaluate the presence of muscle actin and aid in the diagnosis of various myogenic conditions and tumors.

Limitations
The test is reliable for tissues fixed in 10% NBF or B plus. Other fixatives may lead to rejection of the specimen. Slides should be tested within three months after being placed in ethanol if stored for longer terms. Stability of fresh tissue is up to 72 hours, while FFPE tissue and unstained slides can be stored indefinitely at ambient temperature. Final turnaround times are subject to biopharma protocol requirements and will be confirmed in the biopharma study contract.

Collection Instructions
Fixative should be at a 20:1 fixative to tissue ratio, 10% neutral buffered formalin (NBF) for 6-72 hours (48-72 hours PREFERRED).
Storage Instructions
Store at 15°C to 25°C.
Causes for Rejection
Specimens must be fixed in 10% NBF or B plus. All other fixatives will be rejected.
