Use
Establishes the diagnosis of an allergy to mushroom by defining allergens responsible for eliciting signs and symptoms. It identifies allergens responsible for allergic responses or anaphylactic episodes, confirms sensitization before immunotherapy, and investigates the specificity of allergic reactions to insect venom, drugs, or chemical allergens. IgE antibody testing might not be useful for patients previously treated with immunotherapy to gauge residual clinical sensitivity or for those where medical management is not contingent on allergen specificity.

Limitations
Some individuals with clinically insignificant sensitivity to allergens might have measurable levels of IgE antibodies in serum, potentially causing diagnostic confusion. False-positive results may arise in patients with markedly elevated serum IgE (>2500 kU/L) due to nonspecific binding to allergen solid phases.
