Oncology FISH Analysis – BCL2 Rearrangement is designed to detect a common chromosomal rearrangement associated with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL), a cancer primarily affecting adults that can lead to various symptomatic manifestations like swollen lymph nodes and unexplained fever. This test is crucial for patients with clinical suspicions of NHL, follicular lymphoma, or diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). The results should be interpreted in accordance with clinical and pathological data, as they cannot be used in isolation for diagnosis, emphasizing the need for comprehensive evaluation before concluding.
Special Instructions
For FFPE specimens, ensure that the tissue is fixed in 10% neutral buffered formalin for a minimum of 6 hours and a maximum of 48 hours. The volume of formalin used should exceed ten times the specimen volume. Avoid the use of decalcification solutions containing strong acids. Specimens outside of these timeframes may yield false negative results.
Limitations
This FISH assay targets BCL2 loci rearrangements only and is unable to identify other chromosomal abnormalities. Therefore, results should always be contextually evaluated alongside clinical information and other cytogenetic findings.
