Use
Anti‑PLA2R immunofluorescence staining on renal biopsy tissue helps distinguish primary membranous nephropathy from secondary membranous nephropathy; most cases of primary membranous nephropathy exhibit autoantibodies against PLA2R on podocytes, and detection supports accurate diagnosis and disease classification.
Special Instructions
If additional interpretation or analysis is needed, request PATHC (Pathology Consultation) along with this test and submit light microscopy and immunofluorescence slides (or IF images on CD), electron microscopy images (prints or CD), and the pathology report. Shipping instructions: submit frozen specimens (unstained slides or tissue block) in Styrofoam coolers on dry ice; attach green “Attention Pathology” label T498 to transport container. A pathology/diagnostic report is required.
Limitations
This test reports positive or negative for PLA2R autoantibody only; it must be interpreted in clinical context. No significant cautionary statements are provided explicitly. A diagnosis cannot rely solely on this test without clinical and pathology correlation.
