Plasminogen Activity

Use
Plasminogen Activity testing is used to screen for plasminogen deficiency, a potential cause of thrombosis. It is not a primary diagnostic tool for inherited thrombotic or bleeding disorders. The test measures the functional activity of plasminogen, an important protein in the fibrinolytic system responsible for breaking down fibrin clots.

Limitations
This assay is not suitable for diagnosing hereditary thrombotic or bleeding disorders. Results can be affected by improper specimen handling, including hemolysis or clotting. Samples collected under suboptimal conditions may yield inaccurate results. The reference interval provided (71-144%) applies to individuals without known fibrinolytic function abnormalities.
