This test evaluates both the total prolactin level and the biologically active monomeric fraction using PEG precipitation to help distinguish true hyperprolactinemia from benign macroprolactinemia.
Special Instructions
Fasting is recommended but not required. The test is performed weekly (Wednesday) at Quest Diagnostics laboratories.
