Scabies Examination
Use
Detection of the itch mite that causes scabies in humans
Special Instructions
Not provided.
Limitations
The effectiveness of the test may be compromised if specimen collection is not performed adequately. False negatives can occur if mites are not captured in the skin scraping or if specimens are mishandled. Mislabeling or inadequate specimen quantity may also result in test rejection. Additional confirmatory tests or repeated collections may be needed for suspected cases when initial results are negative.
