Use
The SGPG Antibody, IgM test is used in the evaluation of autoimmune neuropathies. While this test alone is not diagnostic, it aids in supporting a clinical diagnosis of neuropathy when combined with other clinical parameters. A positive result may indicate SGPG IgM presence, which can show reactivity against MAG (Myelin Associated Glycoprotein), and patients with positive SGPG IgM and negative MAG IgM may have multifocal motor neuropathy with conduction block.
Special Instructions
This test should not be used in isolation for diagnosis but in conjunction with other clinical assessments. It is developed by ARUP Laboratories and is conducted in a CLIA-certified laboratory.
Limitations
The test has not been cleared or approved by the US Food and Drug Administration and should be used purely for clinical purposes. The performance characteristics were determined by ARUP Laboratories as part of a Laboratory Developed Test (LDT) and may not be generalizable to all patient populations.
