T-Cell Lymphoma, FISH, Tissue
Use
This test is useful for detecting recurrent common chromosome abnormalities in various T-cell lymphomas at diagnosis. It provides prognostic information for patients with documented systemic ALK-negative anaplastic large cell lymphoma. The test is used to evaluate paraffin-embedded tissue specimens, employing different probe sets according to the suspected lymphoma subtype, the patient's age, and clinical questions. The test aids in diagnosing T-cell lymphomas and contributes to determining the subtype and prognosis based on chromosome abnormalities detected.

Limitations
The assay detects chromosome abnormalities in paraffin-embedded tissue samples; it will be canceled if non-paraffin embedded bone marrow or blood samples are received. Alternative fixation methods may be less favorable for successful results. Non-formalin-fixed tissues aren't rejected, but reliability decreases. Paraffin-embedded tissues that have been decalcified have about a 50% success rate in FISH analysis. Lack of sufficient representative cells prevents analysis, incurring no analysis charges. The absence of detected abnormalities doesn't rule out a neoplastic disorder or affect the pathological diagnosis.
