Thyroid Transcription Factor (TTF-1) by Immunohistochemistry
Also known as: TTF1 IHC
Use
Thyroid Transcription Factor 1 (TTF-1) by Immunohistochemistry is a technical service offered for the detection of TTF-1 expression in tissue samples. This test is valuable in differentiating primary lung adenocarcinomas from metastatic lung tumors, as TTF-1 is typically expressed in primary lung and thyroid neoplasms. It aids in the histological diagnosis and subclassification of lung and thyroid cancer cases. The results, derived from stained tissue sections, help pathologists confirm or rule out certain diagnoses based on TTF-1 expression patterns.
Special Instructions
Not provided.
Limitations
This immunohistochemical test detects the presence and pattern of TTF-1 expression in tissue sections. However, the interpretation of TTF-1 staining must be done within the clinical context by a qualified pathologist, as staining intensity and pattern may vary. The test does not provide quantitative results or direct information on gene mutations or expression levels beyond the presence of the protein. Furthermore, false positives/negatives may occur due to technical errors or non-representative tissue samples.

Storage Instructions
Protect paraffin block and/or slides from excessive heat. Room temperature or refrigerated.
