TP53; 17p13 Deletion
Use
A FISH test conducted on hematologic specimens to detect TP53 (17p13) deletion, which is commonly observed in various myeloid and lymphoid neoplasms. The presence of this deletion is significant for understanding the prognosis and treatment strategies in conditions such as chronic lymphocytic leukemia, B-cell prolymphocytic leukemia, and B-cell lymphoproliferative disorders.
Special Instructions
All attempts will be made to process and report samples received over 72 hours post-collection. Bone marrow is the sample of choice in most hematologic malignancies, providing valuable insights into disease activity.
Limitations
The test results may be affected by specimen conditions like clotted specimens, exposure to extreme temperatures, or toxic anticoagulants. There is a risk of insufficient cell numbers affecting test accuracy, and turnaround times are subject to biopharmaceutical protocol requirements.
