Use
The Varicella-Zoster Virus Antibody, IgG, CSF test detects antibodies to varicella-zoster virus in the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). The presence of IgG antibodies may indicate a central nervous system infection or previous exposure to the virus. This test assists in diagnosing conditions such as varicella-zoster virus vasculopathy but is generally not recommended for the diagnosis of acute infections or encephalitis. It is important to consider possible contamination by blood or transfer of serum antibodies across the blood-brain barrier when interpreting results.
