Allergen, Food, Annatto Seed IgE
Also known as: ANNA SEED
Use
The Allergen, Food, Annatto Seed IgE test is used to quantitatively measure specific IgE antibodies against annatto seed in human serum. This test aids in the diagnosis of allergies to annatto seed, which may cause allergic reactions in sensitive individuals. High levels of IgE antibodies indicate a potential allergic response, and the test helps in clinical assessment for allergen avoidance strategies.
Special Instructions
This test is performed by Eurofins Viracor and is not conducted at ARUP Laboratories. For multiple allergen orders, separate specimens are required. Ensure the specimen is processed as soon as possible after collection to avoid degradation. Transport at room temperature is preferred, although refrigeration or freezing is also acceptable for stability.
Limitations
The test measures specific IgE levels but does not give a comprehensive evaluation of all possible allergens. False positives or negatives may occur, and the clinical correlation must consider the patient's history and symptoms. The test performance characteristics have been established by the reference laboratory, Eurofins Viracor, and have not been FDA cleared or approved.
