Allergen, Food, Caraway Seed IgE
Also known as: CARAWAY
Use
The Allergen, Food, Caraway Seed IgE test is used to evaluate an IgE-mediated allergic response to caraway seeds. The presence and concentration of allergen-specific IgE antibodies in the blood are indicative of a sensitization to caraway seeds, which can lead to allergic reactions. However, the concentration of IgE antibodies does not always correlate with the severity of clinical symptoms. It is important to correlate the test results with clinical history and any in vivo reactivity to determine the degree of sensitivity and potential allergic reactions to caraway seeds.
Special Instructions
For optimal test performance, it is crucial to adhere to the specimen collection and handling instructions. Serum must be separated from cells as soon as possible, ideally within 2 hours after collection. Storage conditions should be followed precisely to preserve sample integrity.
Limitations
The test may not detect all cases of clinical allergy or anaphylaxis related to caraway seeds. The presence of IgE antibodies may indicate sensitization but not necessarily correlate with the severity of clinical reaction. Factors such as cross-reactivity with other allergens and individual patient variability can affect results. Interpretation should always factor in clinical history and possible in vivo reactions.
