Allergen, Food, Cherry IgE
Also known as: CHERRY
Use
This test measures allergen-specific IgE antibodies to cherry, which are associated with allergic reactions to this food. A positive result indicates sensitization to cherry allergens, but it is crucial to interpret the results in the context of the clinical history and any other tests conducted. Negative results do not necessarily rule out an allergy, and even low levels of specific IgE may correlate with significant allergic reactions.
Special Instructions
Multiple patient encounters should be avoided during specimen collection. Use an ARUP Standard Transport Tube for serum transport.
Limitations
The test measures concentrations of allergen-specific IgE but does not necessarily correlate with the clinical severity of an allergic reaction or in vivo reactivity to allergens. Negative test results do not exclude the possibility of an allergy or anaphylaxis.
