Allergen, Food, Kiwi
Also known as: KIWI
Use
This test is used to determine the presence and concentration of IgE antibodies specific to kiwi allergens. It aids in the diagnosis and management of patients with suspected kiwi allergies. The test results assist health professionals in correlating laboratory findings with clinical history and in vivo reactivity to specific allergens. Detection of allergen-specific IgE can support the diagnosis of allergy, however, these concentrations may not correlate with the degree of clinical response or skin testing results.
Special Instructions
Not provided.
Limitations
Allergen results of 0.10-0.34 kU/L are intended for specialist use as the clinical relevance is undetermined. Even though increasing ranges are reflective of increasing concentrations of allergen-specific IgE, these concentrations may not correlate with the degree of clinical response or skin testing results when challenged with a specific allergen. A negative test result does not rule out clinical allergy or even anaphylaxis. The correlation of allergy laboratory results with clinical history and in vivo reactivity to specific allergens is essential.
