Allergen, Region 12 Respiratory Panel IgE, Arid Southwest (S. AZ, S.E. CA)
Also known as: REG12PANEL
Use
This test is designed to evaluate allergen-specific IgE concentrations for patients in the arid southwest region, including southern Arizona and southeast California. It aids in diagnosing allergic conditions by quantifying IgE antibodies to common regional allergens such as tree, weed, and grass pollens, as well as mold spores, mite, and animal dander. The test results can help healthcare providers understand a patient's allergic sensitivities, though results should be correlated with the individual's clinical history and other diagnostic findings.
Special Instructions
Multiple patient encounters should be avoided when collecting specimens. Separate serum from cells as soon as possible or within 2 hours of collection. Transfer the serum to an ARUP Standard Transport Tube to ensure proper handling and transport conditions.
Limitations
The test results are intended for specialist use, particularly when IgE levels are between 0.10-0.34 kU/L, as the clinical relevance of these levels is undetermined. Increasing IgE concentrations may not correlate with the degree of clinical response or skin testing results when challenged with a specific allergen. A negative test result does not necessarily rule out the possibility of a clinical allergy or even anaphylaxis. Therefore, correlation with clinical history and in vivo reactivity testing is essential for accurate diagnosis.
