Allergen, Weed, Kochia/Firebush
Also known as: KOCHIA
Use
This test is designed to measure allergen-specific IgE antibodies against the weed Kochia, also known as Firebush. Detecting these antibodies can help in diagnosing allergic responses related to this specific allergen. The results assist healthcare providers in the evaluation of allergic conditions and may be correlated with clinical history and in vivo reactivity to Kochia as part of a comprehensive allergy assessment.
Special Instructions
Multiple patient encounters should be avoided when preparing the specimen. It is crucial to follow special handling and preparation steps, such as separating serum from cells as soon as possible or within two hours of collection. For multiple allergen orders, refer to 'Allergen Specimen Collection Instructions' available on the ARUP website.
Limitations
The concentrations of allergen-specific IgE detected by this test may not directly correlate with the severity of a patient's clinical allergy symptoms or skin test responses. A negative test result does not definitively rule out the possibility of a clinical allergy or even anaphylaxis. Allergen results in the range of 0.10-0.34 kU/L have undetermined clinical relevance and should be interpreted in the context of a specialist's evaluation.
