Allergens, Food, Southeast Profile
Also known as: GAFOODPROF
Use
This panel tests for the presence of specific IgE antibodies for a variety of common food allergens found in the Southeast region. It provides quantitative measures of allergen-specific IgE levels in serum to help identify individuals who may have allergic reactions to specific foods. Healthcare providers can use the results to correlate laboratory findings with the clinical history and in-vivo reactivity to specific allergens.
Special Instructions
Not provided.
Limitations
Results in the 0.10-0.34 kU/L range should be interpreted cautiously by specialists, as their clinical relevance is undetermined. The concentrations of allergen-specific IgE may not always correlate with clinical response or skin test results. Thus, the correlation of lab results with clinical history and in-vivo reactivity is critical. A negative test result does not rule out the possibility of a clinical allergy or the serious condition of anaphylaxis.
