Allergens, Inhalants, Southern California Profile
Also known as: SO CAL PAN
Use
The Allergens, Inhalants, Southern California Profile is designed to measure specific IgE antibodies against common inhalant allergens prevalent in Southern California. This test aids in identifying specific allergens that may contribute to allergic symptoms in sensitized individuals. The results can help in the diagnosis of allergic disorders and guide allergen avoidance strategies or specific immunotherapy.
Special Instructions
Multiple patient encounters and multiple specimen tubes should be avoided for this test. It is important to collect and process serum samples promptly.
Limitations
Allergen-specific IgE levels do not always correlate with the degree of clinical response when exposed to the allergens during skin testing or natural exposure. The results should be correlated with the clinical history and other diagnostic tests. Negative results do not completely exclude the possibility of clinical allergies or even anaphylaxis. This test should be used in conjunction with clinical evaluation and other diagnostic procedures.
