Barbiturates, Urine Screen with Reflex to Quantitation
Also known as: BARB RFX U
Use
This test is useful for general screening in contexts of compliance and/or abuse detection. It is preferred for ruling out barbiturate exposure, using reflex testing to confirm initial screen results. For follow-up of a presumptive result, it is recommended to use the Barbiturates, Urine Quantitative test (2012213). This test is for medical purposes only and is not valid for forensic use.
Special Instructions
If a positive screening result occurs, the specimen will automatically be reflexed to confirmation testing by mass spectrometry. Additional charges will apply. This test is approved for use in New York.
Limitations
Presumptive negative results for drug(s) and/or drug metabolite(s) may indicate non-compliance, inappropriate timing of specimen collection relative to drug administration, poor drug absorption, diluted/adulterated urine, or limitations of testing. The concentration at which the screening test can detect a drug or metabolite varies within a drug class. It is intended for medical purposes only and not valid for forensic use.
