Calretinin by Immunohistochemistry
Also known as: CALRET IHC
Use
This immunohistochemistry test (Calretinin by IHC) is intended as a stain-and-return technical service, providing identification of calretinin protein expression in tissue or cells. It supports histopathologic evaluation, notably in differential diagnosis scenarios such as mesothelial versus other cell types, aiding pathologists in tumor typing or cell lineage determination.
Special Instructions
Specimen submission requires formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue or cellblock; transport in a tissue block or 5 unstained slides (3–5 µm, positively charged) using ARUP tissue transport kit (#47808). Electronic ordering is preferred; alternatively, use ARUP IHC Stain Form (#32978) if electronic ordering is unavailable. This test is New York state approved and is performed as a LDT. It is a stain-and-return technical service only; not a consultative interpretive service.
Limitations
Specimens with non-representative tissue type or depleted tissue are unacceptable. Frozen specimens are unacceptable. If precut slides are submitted, do not oven bake. Frozen specimens are unacceptable; stability at ambient or refrigerated is indefinite. Transport in cooled container during summer months. The test does not include interpretation—only staining is performed.
