CD8 by Immunohistochemistry
Also known as: CD8 IHC
Use
CD8 by Immunohistochemistry (IHC) is a technical stain-and-return service performed Monday through Friday, intended to detect and visualize CD8 protein expression in tissue or cell-block specimens prepared from formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded blocks or unstained slides. It serves as an immunohistochemical method to assist in the histopathologic evaluation of specimens through detection of CD8-positive cells.
Special Instructions
Submit electronic order requests. If unavailable, use ARUP Immunohistochemistry Stain Form (#32978). Refer to ARUP Immunohistochemistry Stain Offerings brochure. Transport specimens using ARUP supply kit #47808. Protect blocks/slides from excessive heat. If sending precut slides, do not oven bake. Ship in cooled containers during summer. The stain-and-return service is technical only.
Limitations
Specimens must be formalin-fixed (10 percent neutral buffered formalin) and paraffin-embedded, or cells prepared into a cell block. Unacceptable specimens include depleted specimens or those with non-representative tissue. Frozen specimens are unacceptable. Slides must be positively charged, 3–5 µm thick; minimum of 2 slides required. Stability: ambient and refrigerated are indefinite; frozen specimens are unacceptable.
