Cytogenomic Molecular Inversion Probe Array FFPE Tissue - Products of Conception
Also known as: CMAPFFPE
Use
This test is used to detect copy number alterations and loss of heterozygosity in formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) specimens from products of conception. It aids in identifying chromosomal abnormalities such as trisomies, monosomies, and other genomic imbalances that can result in pregnancy loss or congenital abnormalities. Genetic counseling and informed consent are strongly recommended due to the nature of the genetic testing.
Special Instructions
The test is specifically designed for FFPE specimens and is not approved by the New York state. Specimens from New York clients must be sent to a New York state-approved laboratory. It requires specific submission forms such as the Prenatal Cytogenetics Patient History Form and Informed Consent for Genetic Testing for NY patients.
Limitations
This analysis does not provide structural information related to genomic imbalances. Certain alterations like CNVs below the resolution limit, sequence-level variants, low-level mosaicism, balanced chromosomal rearrangements, and genomic imbalance in repetitive regions may not be detected. Additional cytogenetic testing such as chromosome analysis or FISH may be necessary for comprehensive assessment. The assay was developed and characteristics determined by ARUP Laboratories, performed in a CLIA certified laboratory without FDA clearance or approval.
