DDIT3 (CHOP) (12q13) Gene Rearrangement by FISH
Also known as: DDIT3 FISH
Use
The DDIT3 (CHOP) (12q13) Gene Rearrangement by FISH test is used in conjunction with histologic and clinical information for the diagnosis of round cell/myxoid liposarcoma. This test detects rearrangements involving the DDIT3 (CHOP) gene and is useful for distinguishing myxoid liposarcoma/round cell liposarcoma from other soft tissue tumors in the differential diagnosis.
Special Instructions
Include a surgical pathology report with the specimen. If multiple specimens (blocks or slides) are sent to ARUP, they must be accompanied by an order comment indicating the ARUP pathologist should choose the specimen most appropriate for testing or individual orders for each sample submitted. If this is not provided, specimens will be held until clarification is received.
Limitations
The DDIT3 (CHOP) FISH test is designed to detect rearrangements involving the DDIT3 (CHOP) gene but does not identify a specific partner gene. An abnormal signal pattern seen in 25 percent or more of the tumor cells evaluated is considered a positive result. It is expected to detect 100 percent of DDIT3 rearrangements in patients with DDIT3 rearranged tumors, except for rare instances of cryptic rearrangements.
