Dipeptidyl Aminopeptidase-Like Protein 6 (DPPX) Antibody, IgG by CBA-IFA With Reflex to Titer, CSF
Also known as: DPPX CSF
Use
This test aids in the diagnosis of limbic encephalitis and may be used to monitor treatment response in individuals who initially test positive for DPPX antibodies. DPPX antibodies are associated with hyperexcitability, pleocytosis, frequent diarrhea, and paraneoplastic DPPX encephalitis. The presence of DPPX antibodies may indicate autoimmune encephalitis, often linked with prodromal gastrointestinal symptoms and unintentional weight loss. It may occur with or without an associated tumor, and decreasing antibody levels suggest a therapeutic response.
Special Instructions
This is a Laboratory Developed Test (LDT). If DPPX antibody IgG is positive, then DPPX antibody IgG titer will be added, resulting in additional charges. Serum is the preferred specimen for testing.
Limitations
A negative test result does not rule out the diagnosis of autoimmune neurological disease. The results should be interpreted in the context of the patient's clinical history and other laboratory findings. The test utilizes a semi-quantitative indirect fluorescent antibody assay and involves DPPX transfected cells for the detection and semi-quantification of the DPPX IgG antibody.
