Estradiol, Free, by Dialysis and Mass Spectrometry
Also known as: ESDIOL FR
Use
This test is used to directly measure free estradiol levels and may be beneficial for assessing estradiol status in individuals with protein-binding abnormalities or those on hormonal contraception. It compares to other estrogen tests and is particularly useful for patient populations with specific conditions affecting hormone binding.
Special Instructions
This is a Laboratory Developed Test (LDT) carried out in a CLIA certified laboratory. The test employs Quantitative Equilibrium Dialysis/High Performance Liquid Chromatography-Tandem Mass Spectrometry methodologies.
Limitations
The test has yet to establish reference intervals for prepubertal females or cisgender males. Make sure to separate specimens from cells as soon as possible, preferably within two hours of collection. Avoid using ambient conditions for transport, and adhere to freezing requirements for prolonged storage.
