Gastrin by Immunohistochemistry
Also known as: GASTRI IHC
Use
Immunohistochemical staining for gastrin, typically used to support diagnostic evaluation of gastrinoma or related neuroendocrine conditions such as Zollinger‑Ellison Syndrome. It serves as a technical (stain and return) service to local pathologists and clinicians to confirm gastrin expression in tissue specimens.
Special Instructions
This test is performed as a stain and return (technical) service only. Ordering is supported via electronic request or ARUP Immunohistochemistry Stain Form (#32978). The test is New York State Department of Health approved.
Limitations
Provides only immunohistochemical staining, without interpretive consultation provided by ARUP. Reliant on adequate fixation, embedding, and representation of target tissue. Depleted or non‑representative specimens are unacceptable and may lead to failure of stain or misinterpretation.
