Hairstat 5 Reflexive Panel
Also known as: HAIRSTAT 5
Use
The Hairstat 5 Reflexive Panel is used to detect the presence of drugs in hair samples, providing a retrospective indication of drug use over a period equivalent to the length of the hair sample. This test covers a range of substances including amphetamines, cocaine, opiates, cannabinoids (marijuana), and phencyclidine (PCP). It is particularly useful for detecting chronic drug use and verifying drug exposure over an extended timeline.
Special Instructions
Ensure hair is not chemically treated or synthetic. Body hair from different sites may be combined to meet required volume, but body hair and scalp hair should not be combined. A kit must be ordered prior to specimen collection, using ARUP supply #40477 available through ARUP Connect™ or Client Services at 800-522-2787. Specimens without a tamper evident seal will not be tested.
Limitations
Dying, bleaching, perming, and chemical straightening of hair may affect results. The test is not performed at ARUP Laboratories; separate specimens must be submitted if multiple tests are ordered.
