Heat Shock Protein 70, IgG by Immunoblot
Also known as: HSP
Use
The presence of HSP70 IgG antibodies may be useful in predicting corticosteroid responsiveness in a subset of patients with autoimmune inner ear disease (AIED) characterized by idiopathic rapidly progressive sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL). HSP70 IgG antibodies are also associated with a number of autoimmune diseases and have also been reported in apparently healthy individuals. A negative result does not rule out response to treatment or to a diagnosis of AIED.
Special Instructions
Not recommended for evaluation of general hearing loss. The test is currently on delay as of 11/20/2025.
Limitations
This test was developed and its performance characteristics determined by ARUP Laboratories. It has not been cleared or approved by the US Food and Drug Administration. This test was performed in a CLIA certified laboratory and is intended for clinical purposes. A negative result does not rule out response to treatment or to a diagnosis of AIED.
