Detects the presence of IgG class antibodies against Japanese encephalitis virus in patients with compatible clinical presentation and history, such as acute encephalitis syndrome following travel to or residence in endemic parts of Asia or the western Pacific. A positive IgG may indicate past or current infection; travel and clinical history aid interpretation.
