Parvovirus B19 by Quantitative PCR
Also known as: PARV QNT
Use
This test is used to diagnose and monitor human parvovirus infection in patients with a suppressed or delayed immune response. It quantitatively measures the viral load of Parvovirus B19 using PCR to assist in clinical management and evaluation of the viral infection.
Special Instructions
Not provided.
Limitations
The test has a quantitative range of 2.0-8.0 log IU/mL (100-100,000,000 IU/mL). A negative result does not rule out the presence of PCR inhibitors or Parvovirus DNA concentrations below the detectable level. Inhibition may lead to underestimation of viral quantitation.
