Rivaroxaban Level
Also known as: RIVAROX
Use
The Rivaroxaban Level test is used to measure the concentration of rivaroxaban in the blood. Rivaroxaban is an oral anticoagulant used for the treatment of conditions such as deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE). Monitoring rivaroxaban levels can help in ensuring therapeutic levels are achieved, minimizing the risk of bleeding or clotting events.
Special Instructions
This test can only measure rivaroxaban and not other anticoagulants like unfractionated heparin, low molecular weight heparin, apixaban (Eliquis), edoxaban (Savaysa), and fondaparinux (Arixtra). Separate specimens must be submitted when additional tests are ordered. Specimen handling guidelines for hemostasis/thrombosis must be followed.
Limitations
The test is limited to the measurement of rivaroxaban levels. It cannot be used to quantify other anticoagulants. Detection limits include a lower limit of detection at 25 ng/mL. The reference interval has not been established, and results must be interpreted in the context of other clinical information and tests.
