Thyroglobulin by LC-MS/MS, Serum or Plasma
Also known as: THYROG MS
Use
This test is recommended for quantifying thyroglobulin in individuals with antithyroglobulin antibodies and aids in the surveillance of residual or recurrent thyroid cancer in individuals who have developed antibodies to thyroglobulin. It is not recommended for use as a general screening procedure to detect the presence of thyroid cancer in the general population.
Special Instructions
Results obtained with different test methods or kits cannot be used interchangeably. The test is performed on specific days of the week (Mon, Wed, Thu, Sat) and reported within 2-6 days.
Limitations
Thyroglobulin results, regardless of concentration, should not be interpreted as absolute evidence for the presence or absence of papillary or follicular thyroid cancer. This test was developed and its performance characteristics determined by ARUP Laboratories. It has not been cleared or approved by the US Food and Drug Administration.
