Tramadol, Urine Screen with Reflex to Quantitation
Also known as: TRAM RFX U
Use
This test is useful for general screening in contexts of compliance and/or abuse. A screen with reflex testing is the preferred method for ruling out tramadol exposure. If the specimen screens positive, a confirmation/quantitation by Liquid Chromatography-Tandem Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) will be added to confirm the result.
Special Instructions
For follow-up testing of a presumptive result, Tramadol and Metabolites, Urine, Quantitative (2002736) is preferred. Additional charges apply if reflexed to confirmation testing.
Limitations
Presumptive negative results may indicate non-compliance, inappropriate timing of specimen collection relative to drug administration, poor drug absorption, diluted/adulterated urine, or limitations of testing. The concentration at which the screening test can detect a drug or metabolite varies within a drug class. The presence of metabolite(s) without parent drug is common and may indicate use of the parent drug during the prior week.
